Taki in an e-mail dated 30 January 2001 writes: "The letters on the label of the Japanese Navy Smoke Grenade are "Hatsuon Dan (Screamer Bomb)". Probably it is a Type 4 Hatsuon Dan. It was used to sweep the sea for sonic mines."
